here we are!
Imagine Belgium will soon open the doors of the house “Maison de la Balance” right in the Grand-Place! Are you curious to know more on what happened in our incredible house since we moved in? We will tell you everything from the moment we got the keys up to now, just a few days away from the great opening of Flybox!
PS: If you didn’t have the opportunity to read it yet, don’t miss our article on the history of our house “Maison de la Balance“.
Our VR experience in a centuries-old house
It may sound surprising but it is true: we are opening a cutting-edge technological attraction in a centuries-old house! That’s stunning, isn’t it? But investing in the Maison de la Balance in the Grand Place is a privilege that we do not take lightly! We want to respect this heritage as much as possible which is why we made sure that no demolition was required and that only refurbishment works had to be done. Indeed, we put in place a non-intrusive installation for Flybox and made sure that we maintained the integrity of the heritage with a a non-intensive scenography. Only the improvements related to lighting and staff safety were undertaken.
We want to offer a high quality technological experience in a valued historical site. But we also tend to be environmentally friendly. Flybox is an attraction that respects its environment. In fact, we used second-hand materials from short circuits when it was possible to reduce our ecological impact. The future of tourism is now and we want to be greener!
The story of Imagine Belgium can start!
If you want to know some of our craziest stories, don’t miss our article on Building a startup in the tourism sector in 2020, it will give you a taste of how the story of Imagine Belgium started!
In fact our team lived many stories together, some are good and others are even better! Of course the covid-19 sanitary crisis challenged us as it meant that the construction work would be delayed for an undetermined period of time. But it was not enough to scare us at Imagine Belgium!
After the lockdown, the works in the house started for real! And after a few trials we finally set up our office! Our event manager converted one floor into a private room for events and our graphic designer created an entire wall of fame full of phenomenal pictures. Our business developer did an amazing job to bring our shop to life and our communication team gathered an incredible community on social networks in a short time!
If the dream becomes reality today it is thanks to the energy of our team but also thanks to our two fantastic co-founders, Baudouin de Troostembergh CEO at Startup Factory who sponsored us and Marie Logé our CEO at Imagine Belgium.
We can’t wait for what’s coming next!
We are working on something big! In fact, Imagine Belgium is a two-phase experience. First, we want you to discover our world and test Flybox our virtual reality experience starting September 2020. Then next year, come back and get even more amazed! In 2021 Imagine Belgium will be a 60-minute immersive attraction designed to introduce Belgium and its heritage thanks to new technologies including virtual reality, 360° projections, mapping and 4D cinema.
Our goal is pretty straight forward : create a new-generation cultural activity for a new-generation city ! But we will come back to that second step later on. You really thought we were going to explain everything now ?
Get ready for the future of tourism!
Are you ready to fly? Imagine Belgium is launching Flybox, the new VR experience to (re)discover Belgium on 1st September!
